Breast Cancer Reconstruction

Women who need breast reconstruction surgery after mastectomy or breast conservation surgery are in exceptional hands with Elevare MD’s Board Certified, fellowship-trained Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon, Dr. Michael DeWolfe. Elevare MD is proud to offer comprehensive breast reconstruction services to help restore the look and quality of life of women.

Elevare MD offers virtually every type of breast reconstructive technique, including newer techniques that minimize scarring.

Types of breast reconstruction offered at Elevare MD are the following:
- Implant-based reconstruction
- Microsurgical breast reconstruction (DIEP, SIEA,TUG,SGAP)
- Oncoplastic reconstruction
- Nipple reconstruction
- Revision breast reconstruction
- Autologous fat grafting
- Surgeries to address symmetries of the opposite breast

Women often chose to undergo breast reconstruction in order to:
- regain their natural contours and female shape
- restore shape prior to cancer surgery or eliminate the need for a breast prosthesis
- achieve a natural balance in their chest
- restore self-confidence, or feel whole again

With advanced surgical training specific to breast reconstruction, Dr. DeWolfe is proud to offer oncoplastic surgery, which is reconstruction immediately following lumpectomy. Breast reconstruction at the time of breast conservation breast cancer surgery – prior to radiation therapy – is a major evolution in the treatment of breast cancer and normalizing the shape of the breast after lumpectomy. Using standard techniques in breast lift and breast reduction surgery during closure of the lumpectomy surgical site is a powerful way to avoid lumpectomy-related deformities following radiation.

Breast Reduction

Breast reduction surgery not only helps many women finally achieve breasts that are in proportion and a better overall fit for their body, but the procedure also can alleviate the back and neck pain that often accompanies overly large breasts.

Elevare MD uses advanced techniques including direct excision and liposuction to remove breast fat, glandular tissue and skin, resulting in a dramatic correction with minimal scarring.

Our expert team is typically able to perform breast reduction surgery as an outpatient surgery and the recovery process is relatively short.

Breast reduction surgery is often covered by insurance if breast size is causing ongoing pain and discomfort not improved with other more conservative therapies.

Earlobe Repair/Reduction

The ears are an important part of your overall appearance. Elevare MD offers precision when it comes to giving ears the look and feel that best fit you, restoring self-confidence. There are a variety of reasons for performing cosmetic procedures on the ears.

Childhood/young adult – Often children are born with, or develop, ears that are too large, protrude too far from the head or are not shaped correctly.

Injury/wear– An injury/trauma to the ear, or even years of wearing heavy earrings, can damage ear cartilage or lead to earlobes that have been stretched out.

Regardless of the reason, Elevare MD cosmetic ear surgery can fix the problem, rendering a natural, balanced look for both children and adults. For children especially, ear surgery can be a powerful tool to build self-esteem and keep from being teased. If caused by a congenital condition, this procedure may be covered by insurance. It is recommended that ear correction surgery is completed prior to entering elementary school.

Enbloc Capsulectomy

Breast implant illness affects thousands of women, regardless to age, activity level, or other general health identity.  As the world's leading expert on Enbloc Capsulectomy and Breast Restoration, Dr. DeWolfe has performed 1000's of procedures -- becoming the champion for eradicating illness, and raising increased awareness of the potential and absolute dangers caused from breast implants.

Comprehensive surgical care is critical for the resolution of symptoms associated with implant related diseases.  Dr. DeWolfe’s care, compassion, and counsel has helped change lives for those suffering from breast implant illness as well as prevent others from making potentially life-altering, detrimental choices.  Known universally as 'The Enbloc Doc', Dr. DeWolfe promises one thing: “No capsule left behind. Ever.”

Eyelid Surgeries

An Elevare MD eyelid surgery can go a long way in restoring or making your eyes one of your best features. It can eliminate signs of aging and rejuvenate your entire appearance, typically without ever having to step into a hospital.  Eyelid surgery is one of the most common cosmetic procedures performed in the United States each year.

To minimize and eliminate visible scarring, Elevare MD can use hidden incisions to perform the surgery, which can:

- Eliminate under eyelid bagging
- Remove bulging fat from around the eyes
- Correction of ptosis (elevation of drooping eyelids)
- Eliminate excess or sagging skin of upper and lower eyelids

Eyelid surgery is often combined with other cosmetic procedures such as facelift or brow lift. To achieve the best results, practicing good skin care after the procedure is important.

Gynecomastia/Male Breast Reduction

While it may be difficult for men to address, having abnormally large breasts is typically the result of a relatively common condition called gynecomastia. Still, it is a cause for anxiety for thousands of men each day. It is generally caused by a hormone imbalance, but there may be other factors involved in the condition.

Gynecomastia linked to medication usage or a medical condition may go away on its own, but surgery may be necessary if:

1) Stopping or changing medications hasn’t eliminated the condition
2) An adult who has struggled for more than a year with the condition
3) The condition has not gone away after a change in diet/lifestyle
4) There is a notable difference in the size between the left and right breast (asymmetry.)

Elevare MD believes that you shouldn’t feel like you have to struggle with this condition for the rest of your life. We employ the latest techniques including direction excision and liposuction to provide to a dramatic correction.

Hernia Repair

Hernias are defects in the abdominal muscle fascia that often lead to abnormal bulges and may be associated with intermittent pain.  The weakness in the abdominal fascia can occur after significant weight loss, pregnancy and previous surgery. In certain instances, a hernia can be repaired at the same time as a cosmetic surgery.  The ability to combine a medical and cosmetic operation can lead to more discrete scars and an overall improved abdominal contour.

Lipoma Removal

Although typically harmless, lipomas – a slow-growing lump of fatty tissue just beneath the skin – may be unsightly or simply bothersome. In some cases, they also can be painful. Lipomas typically occur in the back, shoulders, neck, abdomen, arms and thighs.

Depending on the size and location, Elevare MD’s expert plastic and reconstructive surgeon can remove a lipoma using a variety of advanced techniques, leaving little scarring and facilitating a fast recovery.

Mole Removal

Nearly everyone has at least a handful of moles or skin tags on their body. While perfectly normal, some moles are unsightly and some may cause discomfort.

While mole removal is a routine procedure that may only take a few minutes, it is important that it is conducted by an expert both to minimize scarring and to determine if the mole should be sent for testing for skin cancer. Elevare MD offers mole removal for all types of moles and skin tags, including:

Common mole – acquired throughout life; more frequent in people with light skin.
Atypical mole – usually slightly larger than a pencil eraser, and may raise the risk of melanoma.
Congenital mole – hereditary and can vary greatly in size and location.
Spitznevus – looks like melanoma because it is raised and can have different coloring.

Panniculectomy

A panniculectomy is the removal of skin below the belly button resulting from significant weight loss.  This procedure is deemed medically necessary when the excess skin causes rashes, pain, and infections of the lower abdominal fold.

A panniculectomy is often combined with other body contouring procedures in order to address changes with significant weight loss in a more comprehensive manner.

For example, a panniculectomy can also be combined with a tummy tuck, which includes an extended skin removal, muscle plication to tighten the core musculature and liposuction.

Scar Revision/Keloid Removal

Elevare MD can help make unsightly scars due to a previous surgery, injury or a wound that didn’t heal correctly a thing of the past. Scar revision surgery can minimize the appearance of a scar so that it better matches the surrounding tissue and becomes significantly less noticeable.  Scar revision surgery can be used to address scars that didn’t heal correctly, are raised or recessed compared to surrounding tissue, differ in tone and texture from surrounding skin, are too obvious, or are a source of embarrassment.

Whatever the reason for or location of the scar, Elevare MD’s Board Certified plastic and reconstructive surgeon can use advanced, minimally invasive techniques to improve the look and feel of just about any scar.

Septoplasty

A septoplasty is a surgical procedure to correct a deviated septum which causes nasal obstruction and impaired breathing. Dr. DeWolfe  straightens the septum, allowing for better airflow through your nose.

A septoplasty may involve a closed approach without external incisions or combined with a rhinoplasty to also address cosmetic concerns.

Skin Cancer Removal/ Reconstruction

Skin cancer is the most common form of cancer in the United States. In order to preserve health, surgical removal of skin cancers – which commonly develop on the head and face – is critical. Patients can trust the Board Certified, fellowship-trained plastic and reconstructive surgeon at Elevare MD to expertly remove cancers of the skin, while utilizing techniques to preserve appearance.

There are three types of skin cancer:

Melanoma is most commonly seen in the head or neck and can develop in a mole or mark that is already present or as a new mole-like spot on the skin. While surgical removal is required for all melanomas, it is important to have the appropriate diagnosis techniques, excision techniques and a multi-disciplinary approach for treatment.

Basal Cell and Squamous Cell cancer treatment are primarily localized skin cancers that form slowly over time largely as a result of sun damage. They can grow to large sizes and appear as a wound, lump of tissue or waxy spot that can bleed. This type of skin cancer requires an appropriate margin with removal.

Having a highly trained plastic and reconstructive surgeon perform skin cancer removal can help limit the appearance of scars, while removing all cancerous tissue. This is done by using adjacent tissue for reconstruction and hidden scars to maintain normal contours.

Signs of Skin Cancer

- New, irregularly shaped mole in terms of size, border and color
- Existing mole that changes color, shape or size
- Spot on the skin that crusts and bleeds easily
- Lump of tissue or unexplained wound that doesn’t seem to heal
